On February 25, Wei Rushan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of CNBM Group, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of CNBM, met with a high-level delegation led by His Excellency Ahmed Shide, Minister of Finance of Ethiopia. The talks took place during the delegation’s visit to China. Liu Yan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of CNBM, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Sinoma International, and Yin Zhisong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Sinoma International, also attended the talks.
Mr. Wei acknowledged the significance of the discussions between the two parties. He highlighted Ethiopia’s status as a major African country with substantial influence, China’s comprehensive strategic partner in Africa, and an important participant in China-Africa joint construction of the “Belt and Road” Initiative. Mr. Wei introduced the main business operations of CNBM Group, its performance and development goals around the world and particularly in Ethiopia, and its future international development strategy. He expressed the desire of CNBM Group to better serve Ethiopia’s construction needs and economic development through various models of industrial investment, engineering services, resource development, as well as research and development training, taking advantage of Ethiopia’s resource endowment, development potential, and strategic location.
His Excellency Ahmed Shide expressed gratitude to CNBM Group, particularly Sinoma International, for their remarkable contributions to the Ethiopian building materials industry. He acknowledged that the Ethiopian government faces the important task of improving infrastructure conditions and fostering rapid and sustainable economic development. The Ethiopian construction market is experiencing rapid growth, with a significant demand-supply gap in the cement and other building materials sectors. As the world’s largest material service provider with leading global advantages, CNBM Group is highly anticipated to contribute to Ethiopia’s building materials and other industries, supporting their development, transformation, and upgrading. The Ethiopian government is committed to providing necessary support and preferential policies to facilitate these contributions.
